On this week's episode of the Web's Favourite Cannabis Podcast, the Dopefiend sets forth on his first ever solo wilderness walkabout in the South Downs, where he talks about feeling the need to escape his own consciousness by being in wide open spaces with only his thoughts and nature for company. The Dopefiend reads an email of support from Smoke Jaguar, who writes about how he is going through his own personal struggle, and suggests a musical interlude which conveys his own sense of grief. Next, we hear the Dopefiend's childlike excitement as he encounters horses, sheep, a babbling brook, paragliders, and some unidentified foliage with which he, inexplicably, decides to get involved. After more freedom-inspired music, the Dopefiend battles with wind in his microphone as he attempts to demonstrate a moving meditation, imparted to him by a pagan witch, and since used to great effect with several DopeTribers, including the Duke of Dope. Next, Shock and Stoo bring us news of how Dutch coffeeshop owners are fighting the ban on cannabis tourism, why newborn babies are testing positice for cannabis, the Washington DC Court of Appeals hears arguments to reschedule cannabis, the diplomat imprisoned for smuggling 123 pounds of pot, and more on Uruguay's moves towards legalisation. Finally, the Dopefiend settles down by the banks of a river to toke away his last half hour before catching the train back to real life. In this 87th Psychonautica Podcast, KMO and the Lovely Olga K interview playwright, Maggie Cino. KMO and Olga saw Maggie's play, Decompression, as part of the New York City Fringe Festival. In the play, a group of friends who have just returned from Burning Man decide to put all of their earthly possessions into a common pot and hold a lottery. The winner keeps everything and picks one other member of their group to be their slave. Everyone else must surrender their assets and leave town for a year. The play deals with the themes of sexuality, differential privilege, money and cultural stereotypes. Later in the podcast, KMO and Olga respond to a clip from a Trialogue between Terence McKenna, Ralph Abraham, and Ruppert Sheldrake. The clip comes from a podcast called A Deep Dive into the Mind of Terence McKenna (housed on C-Realm.com) created by Bruce Damer and EROCx1 which is a re-construction of Psychedelic Salon Podcast 316, which Lorenzo removed from the Psychedelic Salon archive at the request of Dennis McKenna. The podcast ends with praise for the film, The Secret Life of Mushrooms by Kat Greene. |

On this week's episode of the Web's Favourite Cannabis Podcast, the Dopefiend talks to medical cannabis user and legalisation activist Clark French, who talks about his introduction to medical use of cannabis through witnessing his stepfather treating his multiple sclerosis symptoms with cannabis, how this led to him developing a positive attitude to cannabis from a very early age, how he went on to develop multiple sclerosis himself, and his subsequent journey which has led him to come face to face with the medical community's woefully inadequate treatments for MS, but also to experience the American medical cannabis system, and to throw his experience and his energy behind the legalisation movement in the UK through his involvement with NORML-UK and the UK Cannabis Social Clubs movement. Finally the Dopefiend talks to Clark about his involvement in the new UKCSC Podcast, which will aim to provide a focal point for this new grassroots approach to cannabis legalisation in the UK, and is soon to launch on Dopefiend.co.uk. After a visit to the VaporLounge, in which the Dopefiend gives an update on his progress through emotional bootcamp, and also samples some Jack Herer through his new mini 5-tree bubbler with his Arizer Solo vaporizer, we hear a musical interlude sent in by leejon420, and Homer the Stoner brings us this week's Cannabis News, including the former star of TV's "Shameless" arrested relating to a £15,000 cannabis farm, the possible link between teenage cannabis use and anxiety, whether cannabis could be the 21st century cure for obesity, and the Vermont farmer who crushed 7 police cars with his tractor during a pot bust. On this week's episode of the Web's Favourite Cannabis Podcast, the Dopefiend talks about the perilous and unknowable path trodden by that strange breed of humanity that calls itself psychonauts, what it is that those of us who voyage to such extraordinary realms despite the considerable risk such travel involves are seeking, whether it can ever be found, and if so, what that means for the so-called "real world" and our place within it. Moving on the the emails, the Dopefiend reads a response to the last few Dopecasts from DopeTribe Elder Komrade Komura, who gives an alternative slant on the riots, handling grief, the psychedelic experience, and the importance of the Dopecast as a voice of opposition against the forces that govern our world, as well us some words of support from Dopefiend.co.uk podcasting hero Lefty, and the perspective of DopeTribe newcomer the Duke of Dope on the phenomenon that is the DopeTribe. Heading into the VaporLounge, the Dopefiend speaks about his meditation practice, and also about his past week and how recent events seem to be further changing his relationship with cannabis. After a toke on some Iced Grapefruit and a musical interlude, the Dopefiend reads a strange story of synchronicity and fear of death from Hophead, and TreeMan tells his own story of how a psychedelic experience threatened his sanity for eight years, but hasn't deterred him from using mushrooms regularly. In this week's Cannabis News, Homer returns to tell us about how Medical Marijuana patients are set to take on the DEA in court, how a new study shows that alcohol is the real gateway drug for teenagers, the British gambler who grew ganja to pay his debts, yet another story of a medical user hauled through the courts for growing his own medicine, and was cannabis really to blame for a New Zealand man's motorcycle crash.
