The Volcano Classic is the Rolls-Royce of
Vaporizers and is considered by many to be the gold standard of
vaporization technology. It fills heat-safe plastic bags with
vapour which can then be inhaled at the user’s leisure thanks to

Touted by the manufacturer as the world's
first portable powered convection vaporizer, the ThermoVape’s
pocket-sized frame houses some truly cutting-edge technology,
including a ceramic-housed quartz crystal heating element, and a
unique fail safe power switch which ensures it is only on when
you’re holding it in your hand. If the technique is mastered, the
ThermoVape can deliver fast, thick and smooth hits of vapour, and
is totally silent and very stealthy- ideal for on-the-move vaping.
There is also the added option of the ThermoVape Revolution: an
alternative mouthpiece attachment which is especially designed for
vaporizing concentrates, such as hash and oils. However, the
flavour isn't up to that produced by the cheaper,

though admittedly technologically inferior, Magic Flight Launch Box, and if you don't get the knack right, you can either produce no vapour or burn your herbs. Though initally promising, the Dopefiend now feels the ThermoVape is ultimately beaten on all fronts except stealth by the Arizer SOLO.

The VapBong is one of a breed of
lighter-powered convection vaporizers which allow the user to
vaporize at an extremely low cost, by heating air with a cigarette
lighter, then drawing it past your herbs, and inhaling the
resultant vapour. Though its price may attract those unfamiliar
with vaporization, using it is a process which takes a lot of
practise to perfect, and the Dopefiend feels the vapour it produces
simply doesn't match the quality of that from a vaporizer with a
built-in power source. Still at this low price, it may be worth a
punt!

The Arizer SOLO has
quickly become the Dopefiend's new favourite portable vaporizer.
Its glass vapour pathway delivers cool, pure, fresh-tasting clouds
with minimal irritation. Unlike most portable units, the SOLO has a
full digital temperature control, allowing the user total
versatility; at low temperatures it pumps out thick clouds of
flavoursome vapour, and at high temperatures it vapes hash like no
other portable! It heats up in under two minutes, is easy to clean,
and the battery can last up to 4 hours. There are no knacks or
techniques: you just turn it on and inhale. While not quite as
portable as the Launch Box, WISPR or IOLITE, the SOLO is still
smaller than a Red Bull can, and with a price close to that of the
ThermoVape or WISPR, is a serious contender for all vaporizer
connoisseurs.

The most exciting thing about the PuffIt
