BB's Bungalow #63 featuring Dr John Jiggens
Everything you could want to know about the history of hemp and marijuana history in Australia!
On this month's episode, we're joined by Australian writer and journalist Dr John Jiggens at his book launch for "Sir Joseph Banks and the story of Hemp". This was recorded at the New International Bookshop at Trades Hall in Melbourne on 18 October 2012.
Dr Jiggens also describes the previous titles in his 'Trilogy' Marijuana Australiana and The Killer Cop and the Murder of Donald McKay. Throughout his talk, John carefully contrasts the two very separate histories of hemp and marijuana and raises some compelling yet contentious ideas around the erroneous classifications of cannabis sativa (hemp) and cannabis indica (marijuana).
If you're in Australia and want to join the fight for drug law reform, then why not join the HEMP party and Help End Marijuana Prohibition!? Membership is free and open to Australian citizens who are registered to vote and not already a member of any other political party. For more information, go to Australianhempparty.com where you can complete an online application form or for more information on future meetups check out www.facebook.com/AustralianHempParty for more information.
